DA-Group’s subsidiary Controlled Oy has acquired Tepcomp Group’s LED product line business. The scope of the business transfer is Tepcomp's LED lighting components product portfolio, related IPR and development personnel.
The Finnish technology corporation DA-Group has purchased Tepcomp Group’s LED product line business. The scope of the business transfer is Tepcomp's LED lighting components product portfolio, related IPR and development personnel. DA-Group’s fully-owned subsidiary, Controlled Oy, is the owner and operator of the transferred business acquisition.
Tepcomp Group is a leading Finnish industrial electronics contract manufacturer focusing on healthcare technology and industrial electronics. Tepcomp's strategic decision was to divest the LED product business and related development activities to enable full focus on Tepcomp Group's core business as EMS supplier.
The product lines included in the business transaction are PowerPAQ power supplies, ActivePAQ and PassivePAQ LED modules.
Controlled Oy's parent company DA-Group is a technology company providing advanced electronics and high-technology solutions and products from seabed to space. The goal of the business transfer is to further develop high-quality LED lighting products with combined R&D teams, and to continue to provide customers with innovative products for demanding environments and use cases. The continued R&D development is assured by acquisition of the Tepcomp’s highly skilled LED development team. DA-Group has more than a quarter of a century of experience in design, product development and manufacturing of demanding electronics, also for defense and space sectors.
In the past, the professionals of Tepcomp and Controlled have collaborated in electronics design and LED technology development. Tepcomp will continue as the manufacturing partner for the LED products for the time being. The quality, warranty and services of the products are maintained in accordance with current contracts.
Kaapo Liede, CEO of Tepcomp, says that the company's contract manufacturing order book has significantly grown over the past year and that the company's management has made a strategic decision to fully focus on the company's growing EMS business. This decision ensures that the transferred LED product portfolio and related customers will receive the best possible support and continuation in the future. “I am very pleased that this business transfer also ensures continuity for our highly professional product development team and provides the team with future opportunities in a high-tech company with strong focus to R&D. I see this as a win-win transaction to all parties. The Tepcomp and Controlled existing and new customers as well as the product development team are all winners”, says Kaapo Liede.
DA-Group’s CEO Sami Kotiniemi states that DA-Group, as an engineering and technology design company, is better positioned to provide a long-term development roadmap for the LED products. “The objective is to further develop the group’s know-how in LED power supplies and technology. At the same time, DA-Group will strengthen its product development and R&D resources”, continues Kotiniemi.
