DA-Group has acquired a part of Microsoft’s mobile device testing and R&D laboratories and equipment in Tampere. DA-Group intends to offer accredited electronic and environmental testing services for a wide range of electronic and mobile solutions and products.

DA-Group’s service portfolio now includes these testing services, in addition to its electronic and high technology design, development and manufacturing services.

To comply with national and international market regulations, all electronic products are tested to validate their functionality, performance, safety and reliability. This acquisition greatly expands the range of power and frequency measurements that can be offered. It also strengthens existing EMC, mechanical and thermal environmental test facilities, already in use for DA-Group’s space programmes.

Sami Kotiniemi, CEO, states that the investment enables the expansion of the group’s testing and validation services. In Finland, there are only a few providers of EMC testing services accredited by FINAS. “Our investment will meet the growing demand for such testing services. We now have Full Compliance EMC testing chambers. The acquisition includes a RF product development laboratory, an audio anechoic chamber, various environmental testing and measurement equipment as well as measurement and analysis systems suitable for regular quality monitoring after a product’s launch to the market”, says Kotiniemi.

These testing services, together with DA-Group’s other extensive offering, will help companies to develop, validate and introduce new technology solutions and products to the market. As an example, it is not generally feasible for small to mid-size companies to invest in expensive equipment, but rather procure testing services from an accredited and impartial service provider.

DA-Group’s Tampere office will be relocated to these new premises in Tampere’s Hervanta area. The site consists of 2.000 square meters of testing laboratory and office space. DA-Group’s fully owned subsidiary, Eleforss Oy, will be the provider of the accredited testing services, once the accreditation decision is available. Eleforss has been offering various testing and measuring services for over ten years. The Tampere office employs twenty professionals, and the relocation will take place in mid February.
