DA-Group, the Finnish technology corporation, purchases 100% of Surma Ltd’s stock. The acquisition will strengthen the consolidated offering to participate in significant naval programs of Finnish and international navy organizations, shipyards and other companies in the naval sector. Surma will continue to operate as the subsidiary with its own brand. The management and staff will also continue in their present roles.

DA-Group provides underwater technology solutions for the defence sector. Surma is a provider of comprehensive navy combat survivability solutions. Surma is known around the world as the leading name in navy combat survivability and is the market leader in Finland.

Together DA-Group and Surma aim to gain a stronger market position internationally as the naval technology service provider. The clear spearhead for the new joint operation is the development and offering of modern underwater technologies, which combine the expertise and knowhow of both companies in response to increasingly fast growing technology challenges in naval environments.

Sami Kotiniemi, CEO of DA-Group, tells that the companies have already successfully cooperated in demanding projects.
- The acquisition is a logical step that will help expand the services for the needs of the defence sector. Our aim is to combine the two top companies’ capabilities to offer comprehensive naval defence solutions for domestic and international customers. With the acquisition, DA-Group also gets an office at Surma’s premises in the center of Helsinki.

Surma’s CEO, Kristian Tornivaara, is enthusiastic about the partnership.
- DA-Group is a growing Finnish defence technology corporation that is aiming at the international markets. DA-Group’s technology strategy supports the development of Surma and it brings important resources to Surma. In turn, Surma will provide DA-Group a strong addition in the areas of naval and underwater technology solutions. Surma’s international network and expertise will increase the joint ability to develop and grow the business. We strongly believe that the acquisition significantly increases our capabilities to support our customers.
